What is an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)?
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is a comprehensive evaluation completed by a qualified professional who is not employed by your child's school district. An IEE offers an independent perspective and can help families and educational teams better understand a child's unique needs and develop meaningful recommendations to support educational success.
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), parents who disagree with a school district's evaluation have the right to request an IEE at public expense. If approved, there is no cost to the family.
